Additional Information:
Well another Summer has sailed by and yet again I've hardly driven the Storm.
I bought this in March 2005 from mr.brown.
The car has loads of history and spent a good deal of it's life in the eighties sitting in a garage in Portugal - hence the condition and mileage.
I've added approximately 15,000 miles since I bought it 6 years ago, and am finding it more difficult to spend any time driving it, let alone developing it into the car I want it to be.
I have a load of spares which will all be available as first dibs to the new owner - including...
The original bonnet and tailgate - with badges and wiper etc
Spare OEM roof and full front panel.
Rear arch repair panels.
Two O/S wings
Rear bumper
Fuel tank
Various lights front and rear
Full set of bronze glass
NOS filler neck
Brand new old stock adjustable wing mirrors - and probably a few more bits as well.
You can read through the project thread below to see the recent history of the car, but brief spec is -
Original EG engine - revs well and pulls strongly.
Audi throttle body and 16v fuel regulator, pipercross air filter, supersprint exhaust (straight through middle section with rear box).
Blue ignitor ignition leads.
Techtonics Tuning quick shift (3 settings).
Thatcham Cat2 Laserline Immobiliser (with certificate).
65A Bosch Alternator.
Brand new battery.
Relayed low-beam lights.
OEM 16v golf front brake set-up - 256mm discs & calipers with genuine Scirocco 16v carriers.
22mm master cylinder and 9" servo with goodridge braided hoses.
Front upper and lower Neuspeed strut braces.
Powerflex polybushes.
Lowered on Weitec TX fully adjustable coilovers.
6 x 15" ATS classics with a custom refurb in dark blue & silver with genuine VW centre caps.
195/45/15 Toyo Proxy’s all round.
Interior is the original blue leather and carpet.
Momo Prototipo wheel with period VW headunit featuring Aux lead for iPod etc. (aerial hidden behind dash)
Leather golf GTi gearknob, black leather handbrake and gear gaitors with blue stitch.
Chrome inner door pulls.
Original scirocco floor mats.
Glass ‘pop-up’ sunroof – I really don’t like the look of it, but in its defence I use it every summer and it doesn’t leak...
Rear clusters have been partially tinted red – gets rid of the clear reversing bits – fog light has been relocated to this location and reverse light is a white LED.
It had a full respray in original light metallic blue, involving quite a bit of rust repair and new panels in November 2009.
This included a fully smoothed tailgate (opened by a ‘popper’ operated from the rear screen wipe function). Also the bonnet A frame was modded to fully accommodate the upper strut brace, and a dk blue pinstripe applied on each flank. It also has a set of pressed metal plates with legal UK font and a spare set of pressed black and silver plates.
All in all I’ve spent waaaay too much on the car.
