@Eric: We'll just keep talking in this ancient encrypted language of britannia, this way the risk of beeing detected is minimized

Yes, mate, fortunately for us no-one else speaks this funny language, well at least not too many "on the other side"

Dirk, Chris,
OK, I understand about the preview. Thanks for the warm welcome. Can't wait till Karmann :-)
Eric,
Sorry, OT, but:
Do I need to bring my spanners, or are you fully kitted?
Am wanting to post pix on here but can't figure out how. I saw your link to the "test" thread, but that didn't help. You said one could 'just upload direct from hard disc' What does that mean in plain English pse m8?
Also, only way I could post a smilie was to copy the right hand column code and paste into the msg; just clicking on it didn't seem to do anything. Is that how it's supposed to work?

Re: PLANNING THE KARMANN VISIT 17th-20th of AUGUST - (was: Retro Cars 02/2006)
@Chris
I will try to help you but I myself do not speak plain English or German. (I am a Californian and we speak a different version of English than you in the UK).
)
I call our version of English “TV” or “Movie English” because we make so many shows that are exported and people learn our version from watching media.
Because I am composing this message I can’t check the steps I am illustrating 100% so I may miss a detail or two. When I use preview after composing a message I can't go back and make changes to my text. To add smiles I just cut and past like you. To post pictures I push the "Add Attachments” button below the text box. I use the browse button and then find the file in my folder (I have a PC). To add the file I select the open button. The file uploads at that point and you can see the file information in the first browse field. I will warn you that the image file must not be too big. If the file is too large it will not post. If the viewable dimension size of the image is too large but the bits are small the image will shrink when posted. You can see how small my “Scirocco song is on my first post. Dirk reposted it larger because he can.
It took me some time to get the signature photo to work but I did get it. The clew is in the smiles.....((Bild einbetten))
I hope this helps you. I am at a disadvantage too but I am having fun with this message board because it is a challenge and the folks are friendly.

@ Chris:
Well, Doug has pretty much said it all regarding uploading piccies on this board, thanks Doug
>Dirk reposted it larger because he can.
Everyone can
You simply need to host your picture elsewhere (on your own private webspace or whatever), then using the img-tags (like in most other boards, using square brackets to enclose the word img and /img) you can embed it here on this forum in whatever size the original was
To use smilies: Below this editor box, there is a bit of text which says "Smilies: Click here" You will then get a list of all smilies known to this board, and no, you cannot simply click on a smilie in said list, you will instead have to type the key-sequence to the right of your chosen smilie.
You can using the img-tag also embed your own smilies, provided you have stored them on your own webspace, very much like large pictures.
Hope that all makes sense.
@ Chris: I can show you all that live, when you're here next weekend for Inters.

Is size XS possible for my lady?
Color of the shirt is white (?) or would it be possible to do it on black ground too?

You're not kidding on this one?
Looks like all of my lot will be up for a T-shirt with Doug's finest logos, BTW.

Re: PLANNING THE KARMANN VISIT 17th-20th of AUGUST - (was: Retro Cars 02/2006)
Doug,
Many thanks for the info on pix posting buddy. I failed to notice the "add attachments " box (couldn't see it for looking). Doh! What a cretin.
And well done for guessing that I also wanted to do a signature pic - I will have a play sometime soon.
PS - Since you are speaking 'Californian English', I particularly liked your pointer to the 'clew'. Over here, that is generally regarded as being part of a sailing vessel, but I knew what you meant B-)
Cheers too, Eric. Unfortunately, unlike you, I do not have my own website!
Do you need me to bring any tools this w/e if we're going to fix the a/c rad? (Answer by email pse as that will flag to me)

@ 2cc
Yes we have tac, clew and head on our sail boats too. The "Clue" was near the sailing term. Thanks.
