, just do as *sic* the US car industry has done: New Mustang, new Camaro to name 2. Yes, we all know the US car industry hasn't exactly excelled in design, and resulting sales, etc., but hey, they did manage to make the new versions of those 2 classics look reasonably like their respective ancestors, and have received loads of praise for it. Now if only VW had done the same with the new Irocco, even Fiat managed to make their new 500 look reasonably like the old classic.
So, if the modern front has to go, the modern front may very well have to go
