My friends 1982 GL has the Gazelle interior, a sort of light brown. I will ask him to take a picture of his car and I will post on here soon.
In 1988 I had a Scirocco GL, it was black with blue interior, my first MK2 Scirocco!

Just had a look at the pictures from your monthly meets outside the domestic appliance shop! The Scirocco GL was only sold in the UK with 13 inch alloy wheels.
Some great looking cars. I do have a couple of questions, firstly, why do some of the cars have red and white number plates, is this something to do with tax exempt cars? Secondly, when I lived in Nienburg, I used to buy car spares from a shop called Wenschels, does this still exist, if I remember rightly they used to stock items made by Kamei (very rare in the UK!)?

Hi Ian,

the tax exempt cars are equipped with a "normal" black and white plate but with an additional letter "H", indicating that it is a "historical" or classic car.
e.g. E-XX-121H

The red plates are generally intended for special use, for a test drive or similar and normally used by car sellers. With this plates the insurance is related to the plate and not to the car. Due to this you can use the plate with different cars.

Here you will find some information about German plates: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_re ... of_Germany

Well, Kamei parts become also rare over here... But sometimes there are offers here at the selling section and at eBay... Is there something special you are looking for?

Greets
Sascha

No there is nothing I want especially from Kamei but I used to like the special things to see they made for VW ' s Kamei parts do come up for sale every once in a while here , I know a man selling a X1 stripe kit for a Mk2 Scirocco , brand new still in the box but he wants £ 110 ( € 130) !

In the Uk the car dealers use red and white plates, therefore, they are removable so can be used on all cars , it must be some EU law maybe?
