Why a full rebuild anyways? Getting another engine and changing it at the weekend with one or two beer should be much easier and cheaper and a lot more fun.
Maybe the Günni-Ulf-Sascha-me-andmanyotherRösrathConnectionMembers are willing to help out and lend you a hand or two.
If this is an option for you lmk and i'll contact the guys and tell them about your situation and maybe we can arrange something.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. But I'm going down the rebuild road. We discussed this at lunchtime today. Replacing everything in the engine bay which looks at all perished including the water cooler, air conditioning heat exchanger, all engine mounts, clutch, lightened flywheel. Boring the engine out to a true 2,900 cc. Oversized pistons, Shrick 268 cams. Plus a whole lot of other stuff. Cost €5000.
Why? Because I am going to keep this car for a long time and I plan on supercharging it next year so I want the engine to be strong.
This is my inspiration..

And Lars. Thanks very much for offering to help. I'm sure I will take you up on that offer sometime.
Can you recommend a good paintshop in the area? Once the engine is done I need to get the front end re-sprayed.

I would recommend Ulf, who has already done Erics Rado.
He is called DocRoc in here: http://www.sciroccoforum.de/forum/membe ... 318-DocRoc

OK, well, decision seems to have been taken to go down the rebuild route, so all's fine again, it seems :grins: . Where are you planning on getting that work done, still at Stealth? If you're planning on taking your Rado to the UK, considered DG Autotech: http://www.dgautotech.com/dgauto/? Dave's the CCGB webmaster, they're holding an open day this Saturday, see here: http://the-corrado.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=92791, which looks like it will be well attended :grins:

Engine rebuild is being done here in Cologne http://www.erasmus-willms.de/ really impressed with their work and service.
Once she's back on the road I will go see Ulf. Having seen Eric's car, I know how good his work is.

Thanks again guys. Come the end of July I will be back in the "scene" again!
